Which Download Sites Can You Trust
Most search engine tool bars have an online tool that allows an individual to evaluate a website to determine if it’s a trustworthy website. The tool bar may have a sign that looks similar to a stop sign. If the sign on the tool bar is green that indicates the site is safe. If the sign on the tool bar is yellow, that indicates you should proceed with caution. If the indicator on the tool bar is red, that indicates this site is not safe and may compromise your computer.
It is beneficial to use a little common sense before downloading information from a website. Review the website. If it looks like a site that is detailed and took considerable time to develop the website it is most likely a legitimate site. It the site is small and looks like someone developed the site overnight, well that should warn you that it may not be a legitimate site.
Invest in a computer security program such as an anti-virus program. After downloading the information run it through the security program to determine if the website is a safe site. To avoid any malicious content and to keep your computer safe run each download through the security program.
